Volvo XC90 gains new Excellence model

The already quite luxurious Volvo XC90 gains a new, top-of-the-range model this week, as the new XC90 Excellence is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

It uses a variety of premium materials and unique options to create a feeling of… well, excellence.

There’s an expanded use of leather on interior surfaces, adjustable rear seats with massage function, and redesigned head-rests.

The Excellence also features two folding tables, cup holders with both heating and cooling capabilities, and hand-crafted crystal glasses from Swedish glass maker Orrefors.

Insulating the cabin from the outside world is increased use of sound-deadening material, plus the incredible Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

“The XC90 Excellence offers a sublime and luxurious experience. It is our top-of-the-line XC90 offer and we see a lot of interest from our more affluent customers,” said Bj√∂rn Annwall, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service at Volvo Cars.

Power is provided by Volvo’s T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid drive-train, which delivers a combined output of 410hp.

The new Volvo XC90 Excellence is available to order now in Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, with China following shortly.

As with the First Edition XC90 – which, incidentally, sold out in just 48 hours – the XC90 Excellence is only available to order online for now, although the company expects it to become available at Volvo dealerships in other markets later in 2016.
