New 2014 Jeep Compass offers new safety features including standard front-seat-mounted side air bags and available ParkView rear backup camera in addition to a rich array of equipment for increased on board comfort when driving both in the city and on off-road trails.

New Compass North model joins the Sport and Limited trim levels already available in the Compass lineup in Europe. The new 2014 Jeep Compass will be introduced across Europe in the second half of 2013.

Benchmark off-road capability in its category is provided by the full-time, active Freedom Drive I four-wheel-drive system with Lock mode, designed to give drivers year-round assurance through the ability to handle rough weather and low-traction conditions.

6F24 six-speed PowerTech automatic transmission
Available for the first time on most 2014 Jeep Compass models is the 6F24 six-speed automatic transmission. Independently developed by PowerTech, the new automatic transmission has been refined for application to the 2014 Jeep Compass. Compact, lightweight and fully electronic, the new six-speed automatic transmission was designed for improved performance, ensuring smooth and precise shifting and increased driving pleasure.

New six-speed automatic transmission will be mated to the 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter I-4 engines producing respectively 156 and 170 horsepower.

With a 0.77 sixth gear, engine rpm is significantly reduced at highway speeds for optimal fuel efficiency. The stepped shift schedule across all six gears is designed for optimal fuel economy in city driving as well. Customers will appreciate extremely quiet operation throughout the gear ranges with the use of noise-resistant gears that effectively reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

The new six-speed transmission also helps reduce maintenance costs. There is no transmission dipstick and transmission filter or fluid changes are not required under normal driving conditions. Low-viscosity fluid is used to improve fuel economy by enabling quicker operating temperatures on the transmission to reduce drag on internal components.

Design
The exterior of the 2014 Jeep Compass has been refined with specific updates that move the design forward. At the front of the Limited model the grille has been enhanced with a plated upper grille trim and mould-in-colour Billet Silver grille texture. The halogen headlamps now have a black inner bezel. The Limited models sport chrome fog lamp bezels. The rear has also received changes and features new tail-lamps with a new “smoked” inner bezel and a plated chrome insert on the tailgate trim applique.

New available 18-inch aluminium wheels on Limited models, and a new plated chrome insert with recessed “Jeep” badge on the tailgate trim applique for models equipped with the available ParkView rear backup camera complete the refreshed exterior design of the 2014 Jeep Compass.

Jeep Compass interior has also been tastefully upgraded with accents and trim that customers will appreciate. Upgraded features include a new interior trim option featuring Saddle Brown perforated leather seating with accent stitching. The armrests and center console lid are now wrapped in vinyl and the instrument cluster overlay graphics have been updated. New satin chrome finish adorns the centre bezel, shifter bezel and pull cups and round out the interior design upgrades.

Safety features
The 2014 Jeep Compass adds standard front-seat-mounted side air bags and available ParkView rear backup camera to the full line of standard safety systems already available for its lineup and featuring advanced multi-stage front air bags, side-curtain front and rear air bags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Brake Assist, Brake Traction Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with rough-road detection and the sophisticated Hill-start Assist system.
