Mazda has released a new special edition – the Mazda6 Zugara – available from 1 July, taking its name from the Japanese word for ‘design’ and will be priced from £19,000 on-the-road.

The Zugara, powered by Mazda’s 2.3-litre 164bhp petrol engine, comes fitted with unique 18-inch alloy wheels, modified and tuned suspension, a six-disc CD auto-changer, seven speaker BOSE audio system and a unique part leather, part cloth interior.

Customers also have the option of having a SmartNav global positioning system fitted onto the vehicle absolutely free.

Mazda is releasing just 500 of the limited edition models, with 300 available in a five-door hatchback body shape at £19,000 and 200 estate cars costing £20,000 each.

The Zugara will be available in three colours: Velocity Red, Titanium Grey or Black Mica.

The 2.3-litre powerplant produces 153lb ft of torque at 4,000rpm and returns 31.0 mpg on the combined cycle. It hits 62mph in 9.0 seconds on its way to its 131mph top speed. The insurance group for Mazda6 Zugara is 13E, the same as the standard Mazda6 2.3-litre sport model.
