The new Skoda Rapid Spaceback made its official debut at the Frankfurt motor show today, confirming details we published in July.
The Spaceback shares the Rapid saloon’s 2,602mm wheelbase, but is shorter overall by 180mm.
It offers 415 litres of cargo space, increasing to 1,380 litres with the rear seats folded.
A double floor allows the cargo area to be divided into two horizontal levels, while typical Skoda handy features such as the ice scraper stored in the fuel filler cap and the safety vest holder under the driver’s seat carry across from the Rapid saloon.
A choice of four petrol and two diesel engines will be available from launch, with power outputs ranging from 75 hp to 120 hp.
A new 1.6-litre TDI engine with 88 hp will make its debut in the GreenLine model, and is expected to return 74.3 mpg while emitting just 99 g/km of CO2.
The new Skoda Rapid Spaceback will launch in European markets starting in October 2013.
