The Rover 75 V8, unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, is now available to order.

Priced from £31,995, and available in either Connoisseur SE or Contemporary SE specification, the V8 is based on the MG ZT platform, modified for rear wheel-drive and with enhancements to the suspension.

Powered by a Ford 4.6-litre V8 developing 256bhp and 302lb/ft of torque channelled to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, the 75 V8 accelerates to 60mph in 6.8 seconds on its way to its 151mph top speed.

The V8 also receives a new larger front grille – Rover says this is “reminiscent of previous V8 engined Rover cars” although Audi will no doubt have something else to say about it.

The Connoisseur SE model features 17″ Star-spoke ‘machined-finish’ alloy wheels, climate control, Light Oak style dashboard and console, wood gear knob and leather handbrake grip, power adjustable heated leather seats with memory facility, chrome capped door mirrors, front fog lamps, rear parking distance sensors, front and rear electric windows, folding rear seat with load-through and cruise control.

The Contemporary SE model features less chrome than the Connoisseur, with Black Oak style dashboard and console, black side window surrounds, body-coloured waist finishers and door mirrors, black leather Sports seats and leather gear knob, rain sensing wiper system and TrafficMaster Traffic Alert system.

A series of Plus Packs are available for both models with options such as satellite navigation, Xenon headlamps and Teletext-equipped TV.
