Nissan will unveil a new hot Micra this summer, dubbed Street Racer, or SR.

Powered by a new, revy, 110PS 1.6-litre engine, the SR has a better power to weight ratio than the Citroën C2 VTR, Ford Fiesta Zetec-S and Mini One, although no performance figures have been released yet.

The chassis has been worked on by the same team that developed the Euro-spec 350Z, and there’s a meatier feel to the steering, too. Externally, there’s a deep front spoiler with integrated projector fog lamps, dark-tinted headlamps, graphite finished 16″ alloy wheels, door sill extensions and a tailgate spoiler.

Inside the seats grip you harder, the pedals are aluminium and the instruments are whited out. Standard kit includes auto wipers and lighting, the Intelligent Key, a six speaker CD music system, aircon and numerous storage areas.

Prices will be unveiled later.
