The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate is available to order now, with prices starting from £37,935 for the E220d SE.
To start with, only the four-cylinder diesel E220d will be offered, with the E350d and E43 following in October.
The E220d is no slouch, though – its 2.0-litre power-plant produces 194hp and 400Nm of torque, enough to propel the estate from 0-62mph in just 7.7 seconds.
It features a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard, and this drivetrain combination yields CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km and economy of up to 67.3 mpg.
Starting with the SE grade, all models are equipped with Garmin Map Pilot navigation, powered tailgate, reversing camera and parking sensors, LED interior lighting, keyless entry, heated front seats, DAB digital radio and 17-inch alloy wheels.
AMG Line models are available for an additional £2,495, and these add 19-inch alloy wheels, leather dash finish, black ash wood trim, stainless steel pedals, and a three-spoke AMG steering wheel in Nappa leather.
Equipment levels can be further boosted through a series of packs: Premium Pack adds the Keyless-Go Comfort system, multi-driver memory and a panoramic glass sunroof for £2,795, while an extra £1,100 sees the Premium Plus package introduce the Burmester surround sound system and Multibeam LED headlights.
Driver assistance packages start at £595 for the Lane Tracking Package that includes Passive Blind Spot Assist and Active Land Keeping Assist, while the £1,695 Driving Assistance Plus Package adds Steering Pilot that uses single-sided braking to guide the car within its lane, Distance Pilot Distronic that maintains a set distance from the vehicle in front, and Speed Limit Pilot that automatically alters the vehicle’s speed in response to changing speed limits.
An upgraded media system – Comand Online – is available for £1,495, while the standard 8.4-inch navigation screen can be upgraded to 12.3-inches for just £495.
Elsewhere in the E-Class range, a new E200d diesel engine has been added to the Saloon model, its 2.0-litre engine producing 150 hp while emitting 102 g/km and achieving up to 72.4 mpg.
