Prices for the new V6-powered Mercedes-Benz X-Class pick-up have been announced, and they’re pretty chunky.

Only available in the range-topping Power grade, the new X-Class 350d starts at £38,500 excl. VAT, or £46,020 inc. VAT.

The 3.0-litre V6 produces 258hp and an enticing 550Nm of torque. That’s enough to shove the X 350d from 0-62mph in just 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 127 mph.

The V6 drives all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission and a permanent AWD system with three modes – 4MAT distributes torque front to rear as necessary, 4H reduces the distribution but doesn’t lock it, while 4L engages low-range.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, keyless entry, electric front seats, part-leather upholstery, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Navigation will cost you an extra £412.50 and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay still aren’t available.

Comfort suspension is standard, so you’ll need to fork out a further £264 for the 20mm higher set-up.

Order books are open now, with first deliveries expected in November.
