McLaren has announced that it will produce a new high-performance version of the 12C, named the 12C GT Sprint.
Branded a track-only model, the 12C GT Sprint is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo engine delivering 625PS via a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox.
The suspension has been lowered by 40mm, and the ProActive Chassis Control system retuned to match.
Externally, the aerodynamics have been further optimised, with a more aggressive front bumper, and GT3-inspired bonnet with air ducts.
Carbon ceramic brakes and an on-board air-jack system are also fitted, together with 19-inch centre-locking OZ race wheels with Pirelli racing slick tyres.
Inside, there’s an FIA-compliant roll cage and integrated fire extinguisher system, as well as a HANS-approved lightweight composite racing seat with six-point harness.
A lightweight version of the original car’s air conditioning system has been retained.
A race-developed digital display fits within a carbon-fibre dashboard, with key vehicle controls on the custom steering wheel.
An initial batch of 20 cars, priced somewhere below £200,000, will be made this year, with the possibility of more to follow.
