A prototype of the new Honda NSX has been shown-off on-track at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, as part of the Honda Indy 200 weekend.

Although wearing the Acura brand under which it will be marketed in America, the next generation NSX will be marketed elsewhere as a Honda when it is launched during 2015.

The new NSX will be powered by a mid-mounted direct injection V6 driving all four wheels through Honda’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system.  The system uses three electric motors – one integrated into the petrol engine and dual-clutch transmission assembly driving the rear wheels, and two motors driving the front wheels.

Development of the NSX is being led by engineers in Raymond, Ohio, with production set to take place at a new facility in nearby Marysville.
