Ford has given the Mondeo a face-lift for 2005, with a number of interior and exterior detail changes as well as revisions to the model line-up.
Coupled with the physical changes to the Mondeo is a modification of the series line-up. This includes the incorporation of the Titanium and Titanium X models as regular series alongside the Ghia and Ghia X models due to continued customer demand. The Titanium X was originally introduced in 2004 as a “limited production” model.
New technology features include affordable Bluetooth systems, Voice Control and I-Pod/MP-3 connectivity, while driving quality has been enhanced with improvements to brake feel and the Durashift 6-speed transmission.
The ST model gets a new silver painted upper and lower grille, additional chrome accents, including a new rocker panel, new wheel centre-caps and a chrome strip along the bottom of the windows on each door, while on the inside there are interior enhancements including red or grey coloured stitching on the steering wheel, gearshift and hand brake plus optional aluminium pedals.
The Ghia models get a mesh upper grille and new body coloured front and rear lower bumper valences, a new chromed centre cap design for the Ghia’s alloy wheels which echoes the extra touches of chrome throughout, a new clock design for improved visibility and a tailgate scuff-plate on the Ghia and Ghia X estate models.
Zetec models get chrome interior door release handles, silver painted bezels for the gear lever and clock surround, and a chromed handbrake release button, as well as a new door trim insert and new trim colour.
Meanwhile, the LX sees a new appearance front bumper with lower valance, a new look rear bumper which, on 4-door and 5-door models, incorporates new functional reflectors, a chrome front grille surround with new upper and lower grille mesh, common across all Mondeo models, chrome interior door release handles, a gearshift gaiter with chrome surround and chrome clock surround and a new trim colour option.
The revised models are on sale from May 6, 2005, with prices unchanged.
