The Ford Focus Electric is on sale now in the UK.

Priced from £33,500, the Focus Electric will have an on-the-road price of £28,500 after a £5,000 government plug-in car grant.

Ford says it initially plans on importing a limited number of units to the UK, and it expects demand to mainly come from fleet customers.

The Focus Electric uses an electric motor powered by a 23kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery power-train that produces 142PS.  It has a range of around 100 miles and a top speed of 85mph.

It can be charged via a standard 13-amp three-pin plug, with a full charge taking 10 to 11 hours.  A 32-amp fast charger can be specified, and can charge the Focus in three to four hours.
