The new Caterham Seven 160 is available to order now, priced from £14,995 in kit form or £17,995 fully built.

The Seven 160 is the company’s new entry-level model.

Despite that, it’s powered by a fruity 660cc three-cylinder turbocharged Suzuki engine producing 80hp.

That might not sound like much, but in the light-weight Caterham Seven, that’s enough for a 0-60mph time of 6.5 seconds and a blustery top speed of 100mph.

The engine is mated to a Suzuki-supplied five-speed manual gearbox, and is compliant with EU5, EU6 and JC08 emissions regulations.

In Europe, the new model will be badged Seven 165 as part of a new naming convention to emphasise the car’s EU5 emissions compliance.

Production is expected to begin in January 2014 with first deliveries in the spring.
