BMW has opened a new factory in Shenyang, north-east China, as part of a joint venture with Brilliance China Automotive.

BMW will invest 450 million euros in the plant by 2005.

The factory is expected to produce 30,000 BMW 3-Series and 5-Series models per year.

The company hopes to increase annual sales in the Asian markets from 93,000 in 2003 to 150,000 by 2008.
