The Audi A3 is now available with a new 2.0-litre TDI engine that delivers 184PS and 380Nm of torque between 1,750 and 3,250rpm.
The new 2.0 TDI can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds, and on to a 145mph top speed.
Audi claim it can achieve 68.9mpg on the combined cycle, while emitting just 108g/km of CO2.
The new engine is available in front wheel-drive form with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the four wheel-drive quattro version comes with Audi’s S tronic dual-clutch transmission.
It is available in Sport or S line trim grades, with prices starting from £24,375.
The A3 is also now available with the option of full LED headlights.
The LED light package costs £2,000 on SE and Sport models, or £795 on S line and S3 models, and includes LED headlights, LED rear lights, light and rain sensors and LED ambient lighting.
The headlights use nine LED chips in two reflectors to produce the low-beam light, with a further ten LEDs for the high-beam. Cornering and all-weather lights, which replace the need for fog lights, are housed separately.
The system also features motorway lights, which elongate the field of illumination at speeds of over 68mph, and junction lights which widen the beam at intersections.
A travel mode works in conjunction with the satellite navigation to automatically switch the headlights between left- and right-hand-drive orientation in different countries.
The new lights consume less power – only 40W for the low-beam, less even than existing xenon units – and are designed to last for the life of the vehicle.
