The Abarth 595 ’50th Anniversary’ will be available to order on 15th September 2013, exactly 50 years after the first Fiat Abarth 595 was unveiled in September 1963.

Just 299 examples will be produced, each one receiving customisations by hand at Officine Abarth in Turin.

The Abarth 595 50th Anniversary is powered by the familiar 1.4-litre T-Jet engine, tuned to produce 180hp, and driving the front wheels through an Abarth Competizione robotised manual gearbox.

It sits on 17-inch alloy wheels in Magnesio Grey, the design of which echoes the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari models.  Behind the front wheels are Brembo 305mm floating brake discs with four-piston calipers.

The suspension uses specially-designed dampers, and at the rear is the Abarth Record Monza variable back-pressure exhaust system.

Styling-wise, the new 595 is finished in matt three-layer white paintwork, said to be a reinterpretation of the 1963 model’s finish, with Fiat Abarth 595 hand-applied graphics that mirror those of the original.

At the front, and bringing the 595 bang up to date, are a pair of xenon headlights.

The interior is lit by a glass sunroof, revealing red leather sports seats with white inserts and red stitching.

The logo on the steering wheel has been changed to match that used by the company in 1963, and has also been added to the base of the centre console and door kick plates.

Just 50 examples of the Abarth 595 50th Anniversary will coming to the UK in right-hand-drive form, with prices from £29,850.
