The new Suzuki Jimny will be priced from £15,499 when it goes on sale in January 2019, and in a choice of two models – SZ4 and SZ5.

The range starts with the £15,499 SZ4 which features steel wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, automatic headlights with high-beam assist, and lane departure warning.

The SZ5 is priced from £17,999 and adds alloy wheels, body-coloured door handles, LED headlights with cleaning washers, heated door mirrors, heated seats, climate control, leather steering wheel, rear privacy glass, and satnav with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

A four-speed automatic transmission can be added to SZ5 models for a further £1,000.

SZ4 models are available in a choice of Superior White, Silky Silver Metallic or Blueish Black Metallic, the latter two being a £485 option.

The range-topping SZ5, meanwhile, is also offered in a choice of three two-tone combinations for £650, each with a Blueish-Black roof – Kinetic Yellow, Chiffon Ivory Pearl Metallic or Brisk Blue Metallic.

Power for both models comes from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 100hp and 130Nm of torque.

Acceleration figures aren’t quoted by Suzuki, although top speed is given as 90mph.  Combined cycle economy on the new WLTP tests is quoted as 35.8 mpg for the manual and 32.2 mpg for the auto.
