Although having been on sale in the US for some time already, the Ford Edge is only now making its way to the UK.  It’s on sale from today, priced from £29,995 to £36,745.

The Edge was first launched in the US in 2007 but, echoing the mysteriously delayed appearance of the new Mondeo, didn’t receive its European debut until the 2015 Frankfurt Motorshow.

In the UK, the Ford Edge will be offered with a choice of two 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engines, with either 180PS or 210PS.

The 180PS unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, while the higher power bi-turbo unit comes only with a six-speed automatic.

Ford claims both power-trains will return up to 48.7 mpg while emitting 149 g/km, although this drops to 47.9 mpg and 152 g/km once 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted.

Three trim levels will be available, starting with the entry-level Zetec model which is only available with the 180PS engine.

The two remaining trims – Titanium and Sport – can be ordered with either power-train.

Although Ford hasn’t confirmed exact UK specifications, the company did say that all models would be equipped with all-wheel-drive, active noise control, pedestrian detection, Sync 2 connectivity with DAB digital radio and 19-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Ten exterior colours will be available, including two new colours: Electric Spice and Bronze Fire.
