Following the unveiling of the 2015 Volvo XC90 last month, Volvo has now released the first pictures of its more sporty variant, the XC90 R-Design.

The R-Design is distinguished by a revised grille, new front spoiler, ‘silk metal’ window surrounds, dual exhausts integrated into the rear bumper, silver roof rails, matt silver door mirrors, and 20-inch R-Design alloy wheels in a choice of designs.

The interior receives a similar treatment with Contour sports seats in Nubuck and perforated leather, plus R-Design pedals, floor mats, illuminated sill plates and a special R-Design key remote.

The tablet-inspired centre touch-screen also receives an R-Design theme to match.

A choice of Drive-E powertrains will be offered with power outputs up to 400hp.

The R-Design model sits alongside the more luxurious Inscription grade at the top of the range, although the bulk of XC90 sales are expected to be the Momentum model.

The 2015 Volvo XC90 goes on sale in October with first deliveries expected in May 2015.  The range is expected to start from around £45,000, although prices for the R-Design model have yet to be announced.
