The new Suzuki Vitara will be priced from £13,999 when it goes on sale this April, with a choice of 1.6-litre petrol or diesel engines, plus two- or four-wheel drive.

Three trim levels will be offered, starting with the entry-level SZ4 model which includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, DAB digital radio, cruise control, climate control, all round electric windows and projector headlights as standard.

Priced from £15,499, the SZ-T model adds 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, and satellite navigation.

The range-topping SZ5 model starts from £17,999 and includes LED headlights, 17-inch polished alloy wheels, suede-style upholstery, keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, radar brake support and a panoramic sunroof.

A pair of option packs will also be available: the Urban Pack adds chrome fog-light bezels, body-side mouldings and a roof spoiler, while the Rugged Pack adds front and rear skid-plates, fog-light bezels, body-side mouldings and load-edge protection.  Both cost £500.

Ten exterior paint finishes will be offered, including five two-tone combinations, while further customisation opportunities arrive in the form of contrasting instrument panel and ventilation trim in either turquoise, orange, white or piano black.

Power comes from a choice of 1.6-litre engines, one petrol, one diesel.  Both develop 120PS, with the petrol producing 156Nm of torque versus the diesel’s 320Nm.

Both are available in either two- of four-wheel-drive versions, the latter using Suzuki’s well-regarded AllGrip 4WD system.  Petrol models use a five-speed manual transmission as standard, with a six-speed auto available as an option on SZ5 models.  Diesel variants are fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox only.

Both petrol and diesel 2WD models record a 0-62mph time of 11.5 seconds, while the 2WD diesel model achieves the lowest CO2 figure of 106 g/km versus 123 g/km of the 2WD petrol model.  Economy is a strong-point of the 2WD diesel model, achieving up to 70.6 mpg on the combined cycle.

The new Suzuki Vitara goes on sale in the UK this April, with first deliveries expected in the summer.
