Subaru has reinstated the entry-level SE model to its BRZ range, usefully undercutting its sister car, the Toyota GT86.

The BRZ SE will be available at Subaru dealers later this month priced from £22,495, or £23,995 with automatic transmission.

That compares favourably with the Toyota GT86, which is now available in only one model at £25,110.

The BRZ Lux model continues to be available at the new lower price of £23,995 or £24,495 in automatic form.

Both are powered by the same 200PS 2.0-litre ‘Boxer’ engine driving the rear wheels, while both models benefit from a standard specification that includes keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, stability control, and a Torsen limited slip rear differential.

The Lux model goes on to add heated leather/Alcantara seats, while auto models receive steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
