The Mazda CX-5 has been upgraded for the 2015 model year, with a new interior featuring the company’s MZD Connect system, LED headlights for Sport Nav models, and the option of new safety equipment.

Engine choices are unchanged, with a 2.0-litre 165PS petrol unit offered in two-wheel-drive form, plus a pair of 2.2-litre twin-turbo diesels with either 150PS or 175PS.  Transmissions are six-speed manual as standard, with an automatic available as an option on some diesel models.

Economy and efficiency continues to be a strong-point of the range, with some diesel models emitting just 119 g/km while achieving economy of 61.4 mpg.

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 will continue to be offered in three grades – SE-L, SE-L Lux and Sport Nav.

All models now benefit from an electronic parking brake, front passenger seat height adjustment, a follow-me-home function for the headlights, and the company’s Multimedia Controller.

Mazda’s excellent MZD Connect infotainment system is now standard across the range.  First seen on the Mazda 3, it uses a 7-inch colour touch-screen to provide DAB digital radio, smartphone and internet connectivity.  On Nav models, it also includes an updated navigation function with improved accuracy, easier searching, and three years of free map updates.

Sport Nav models also receive new 19-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED fog lights, and LED running lights.

SE-L Lux and Sport Nav models now have the option of Stone leather upholstery instead of black (£200), while Sport Nav models can be specified with Radar Cruise Control (£800) and an upgraded Safety Pack.

The £800 Pack adds Adaptive LED Headlights which alter their beam pattern to avoid dazzling other drivers without the need to switch to low beam, plus Lane Keep Assist with Driver Attention Alert that vibrates the steering wheel should the driver stray from the middle of their lane.  Also included are Advanced Blind Sport Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which can now detect pedestrians and cyclists and across a wider area, plus Rear Smart City Brake Support which operates from 2-5 mph in reverse to apply the brakes automatically if a collision is imminent.

Prices for the 2015 Mazda CX-5 start at £22,295 for the 2.0-litre SE-L, with the diesel range starting at £24,095.  Our favourite, the range-topping 2.2-litre 175PS Sport Nav, comes in at £29,395.

The new CX-5 arrives in the UK this spring.
