The first official pictures of the new Kia Sorento have been released today, ahead of the car’s official debut at the Paris motor show in October.

Kia describes the new Sorento as longer, lower and wider, with an extended wheelbase.

In figures, that translates to a 95mm increase in length and an 80mm longer wheelbase, although overall height has been reduced by 15mm.

The design features a more prominent version of the company’s ‘tiger nose’ grille, plus large swept-back headlights.

A higher belt-line and more rounded shoulders are said to give the car a more muscular appearance.

Soon-Nam Lee, Vice President of Overseas Marketing, Kia Motors Corp. tells us the new Sorento has been “completely redesigned and re-engineered” and goes on to promise to “surprise customers with its thoroughly updated styling, host of new convenience and safety technologies, as well as enhanced space, driving comfort and handling response.”

Although the new Sorento will feature heavily in showcase form in Korea in late August, its European premiere will take place on 2nd October at the Paris motor show.

It’s expected to arrive in the UK in the spring of 2015.
