The new 2015 Ford Mustang will be coming to Europe in right-hand drive form.

It will be officially launched on 17th April 2014, exactly 50 years after the original was launched in the US.

The new Mustang will be available in both fastback and convertible guises, and the company is promising ‘world-class’ levels of performance and refinement.

Power comes from a choice of petrol engines: a 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost developing 305hp and 407Nm of torque, plus a 5.0-litre V8 with 420hp and 529Nm.

A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard, with a paddle-operated auto as an option.

The 2015 Mustang will use all-new suspension – independent at the rear for the first time – with a number of optimisations for European roads.

Ford say the driving experience will be customisable, with toggle switches to alter the degree of steering effort, engine response, transmission settings and stability control configuration.

A torque vectoring system will help keep things in check, while manual transmission models will include launch control.

European models will also benefit from an 8-inch central screen for navigation and other functions, plus a 12-speaker sound system.

Pricing has yet to be announced.
