The new 2015 Audi TT and TTS Roadster – convertible sister car to the Audi TT Coupe unveiled earlier – will be available to order mid-November priced from £31,955.

Audi says the new model is both quieter and lighter than the outgoing model, the use of magnesium, aluminium, and plastic in the framework of the convertible top helping to keep its weight down to 39 kg – a 3 kg saving over the previous model.

The soft-top is powered by two electric motors with the opening and closing process taking just 10 seconds, a process that can be completed at speeds of up to 31mph.  Audi goes on to claim that, when closed, the stowed top doesn’t impinge on the 280 litre boot.

Engine choices start with a 2.0-litre TDI ultra with 184PS mated to a six-speed manual transmission.  It can sprint from 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 147 mph, with CO2 emissions of just 114 g/km.  It’s also said to be capable of achieving up to 65.7 mpg.

Quattro four-wheel-drive fans will need to opt for the more powerful 2.0-litre TFSI with 230PS and either a six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission.  CO2 emissions range from 140 to 154 g/km.

The range-topping TTS Roadster uses the same 2.0-litre TFSI unit but tuned to produced 310PS and 380Nm of torque, and in this guise it completes the 0-62mph sprint in just 4.9 seconds.

Prices for the new Audi TT Roadster start from £31,955.  The TTS Roadster is expected to be available from early 2015, with prices to be confirmed nearer the time.
