The new Volvo V60 Polestar has been revealed.  Although available globally in both saloon S60 and estate V60 guises, only the estate model will be offered in the UK.

Power comes from a tuned version of Volvo’s six-cylinder turbocharged T6 engine.

A new turbo and intercooler, plus a 2.5-inch stainless steel exhaust system, result in peak power of 350hp at 5,700rpm and peak torque of 500Nm at 2,800rpm.

Power is transmitted via a six-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels through a Haldex four-wheel drive system.

The Volvo V60 Polestar can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds and on to its electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.

Keeping that performance on the tarmac are 20-inch Polestar wheels, 80% stiffer suspension springs, high-performance Ohlins dampers and 371mm ventilated front brake discs with six-piston Brembo calipers.

Externally, a number of aerodynamic tweaks have been made, including the addition of a front splitter, a new rear spoiler and diffuser, and under-body optimisations to smooth airflow.

The new Volvo V60 Polestar will arrive in June 2014.  Prices will be announced nearer the time.
