Volkswagen will present a restyled Scirocco at the Geneva Motor Show next month.  The changes include new bumpers and lights, plus revisions to the engine range to improve fuel economy.

The restyled Scirocco features a new front bumper with aerodynamic ‘blades’ while the headlights have been tweaked and now include the fog lights in the main unit.

On models with optional bi-xenon lighting, the running lights are also integrated.

At the rear, the bumper has been reshaped, tail lights are now LED, and the VW badge doubles up as the tailgate release.

The Scirocco R continues to have its own unique look, with exclusive bumpers and 18-inch wheels, while the rest of the Scirocco range also sees a series of new wheel designs.

Inside, the design of the dashboard has been revised with new dials and a new secondary instrument pack above the centre console.

Six engines are available, starting with a 1.4-litre petrol with 125PS (up from 122), a new 2.0-litre unit with 180PS that replaces the 1.4-litre 160PS engine, and a new 220PS version of the 2.0-litre 210PS engine that’s said to be 19% more efficient than before.

The Scirocco R has had its power increased by 15PS to 280PS.

Diesel options come in the form of two 2.0-litre power-plants with either 150PS or 184PS, the former boasting economy of up to 68.9mpg.

Transmission choices are six-speed manual and six- or seven-speed DSG depending on power output.

The new Scirocco will be available to order from May 2014 with first deliveries expected in September.
