The Vauxhall Meriva will receive a mild face-lift and a new diesel engine next month, ready for the 2014 model year.

The 2014 Meriva will wear a new grille, together with chrome surrounds for the front fog-lights and new headlights with an ‘eagle-eye’ motif.

LED daytime running lights and rear lights will be available as an option, as will a new design of 18-inch alloy wheel.

The Meriva will also benefit from a new Euro-6 compliant 1.6 CDTi diesel engine with 136PS and 320Nm of torque, capable of returning 64.2mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 116g/km.

The new engine makes the Meriva nearly a second quicker to 60mph, accelerating there from rest in 9.1 seconds.

The existing range of petrol engines – a 100PS 1.4, plus a turbocharged 1.4 with either 120PS or 140PS – are now also Euro-6 compliant.

Prices will be confirmed next month as order books open.  First deliveries are expected in January 2014.
