The 2014 Jaguar XF Saloon and Sportbrake are now available with a revised version of the 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine which boasts improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions.
The four-cylinder 2.2-litre 163PS ECO2 engine has new larger Exhaust Gas Recirculation valves and a revised cooling assembly which helps to achieve a 6 g/km CO2 reduction over the 2013 model. With the new engine, the XF can achieve 57.7 mpg with CO2 emissions of just 129 g/km, placing the 2014 XF in VED Band D (£105 pa).
Commenting on the improvements, Jeremy Hicks, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover UK said: “The 2014 XF with this revised engine calibration opens up the unique Jaguar ownership experience to a whole new segment. Cost-conscious drivers, business users and fleet managers will be able to enjoy the refinement, luxury and seductive design of a Jaguar while benefiting from its low emissions and high fuel efficiency.”
Jaguar’s Stop-Start system uses a Twin Solenoid Start (TSS) to shut down the engine when the car comes to a stop, and allows restarting in less time than it takes for the driver to move their foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal. The system also includes a ‘change of mind’ function, which can quickly restart the engine during the run-down phase should the driver suddenly choose to exploit a gap in traffic, for example. Stop-Start can be deactivated manually, but will reactivate when the vehicle is next started. The 2014 model year XF includes a second battery fitted specifically for the purpose of engine re-starting.
In addition to the economy and emissions improvements, the 2014 model introduces an extended navigation system that provides more intuitive mapping, as well as iGO primo, which adds a range of search options, smart keyboard, one-way road visualisation and other benefits.
On the colour chart, Osmium replaces Crystal Blue, while Dark Sapphire replaces Indigo Blue.
