The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe will arrive in UK dealerships this autumn, with prices starting from £61,495.

All UK models will be equipped with the Z51 Performance Pack as standard, which includes: enhanced aero package, electronic limited-slip differential, upgraded springs, dampers and stabiliser bars, tuned gear ratios, dry-sump oil system, diff and transmission cooling, 19×8.5-inch front and 20×10-inch rear wheels and tyres, as well as larger 345 mm front and 338 mm rear brakes.

In addition, UK models will also receive an upgraded traction management system, performance exhaust, and the magnetic ride control system that is normally optional in the US.  The system has been specially tuned for European roads.

Power comes from a 6.2-litre LT1 V8 engine which develops 460 hp at 6,000 rpm and 630 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm.  This powerhouse is mated to a seven-speed manual transmission with active rev matching, which we particularly like the sound of.  An official o-62 mph time hasn’t been published yet, but is expected to be less than four seconds.

Inside, the Stingray features the company’s new ‘tablet-inspired’ MyLink system with two 8-inch displays, USB port, SD card, etc.

Options include metallic paint (£600), tintcoat paint (£1,000), satellite navigation (£1,450) and black aluminium wheels (£550).

“Corvette has inspired millions across generations, and the new Stingray is no exception. The advancements in design, technology and engineering have given us a car that will define the decade and far exceed consumers’ expectations,” said Susan Docherty, President and Managing Director, Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe. “While the Corvette Stingray can compete with its rivals in terms of performance, it remains affordable. The Stingray is more than a car, it’s a statement of intent by drivers who want the pure exhilaration that’s tantamount with the name Corvette.”
