The Audi S3 Cabriolet will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and in so doing will become the first Audi ‘S’ model to be offered in convertible form.
The top, which will be available in three colours, is constructed around a lightweight magnesium and aluminium frame that can be opened or closed at speeds of up to 31mph, the whole operation taking 18 seconds.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre TFSI turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 300PS between 5,500rpm and 6,200rpm as well as peak torque of 380Nm from 1,800 – 5,500rpm.
That gives the S3 Cabriolet a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
Economy is expected around the 39.8mpg mark, with CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.
Audi’s quattro four-wheel-drive system and S tronic dual-clutch transmission are both standard on the S3 Cabriolet.
Prices have yet to be announced, but order books are expected to open in April with first deliveries from July.
