The Alfa Romeo Giulietta has received an array of small styling tweaks for the 2014 model year, as well as a drop in CO2 emissions and a more powerful 2.0-litre diesel engine option.
The 2014 Giulietta features a new front grille, revised front fog light bezels, new alloy wheel designs, and three new exterior colours – Luna Pearl, Cobalto Blue and Metallo Bronze.
The interior sees revisions, too, with a redesigned dashboard, an updated Uconnect infotainment system, a new steering wheel and new door trim panels.
The seats have been altered to offer greater comfort, while extra sound insulation has been added for more refinement.
Every engine in the range has been revised for increased efficiency and reduced emissions, while a new 150hp version of the 2.0-litre JTDM-2 diesel engine with 9 g/km lower emissions replaces the previous 140hp unit.
Four grades are available: Progression, Distinctive, Exclusive and Sportiva Nav.
The Progression grade replaces the previous Turismo model and adds 16-inch alloy wheels, Uconnect, TPMS, and rear electric windows in return for a £470 price increase. It’s available with either 120hp 1.4-litre TB turbo petrol or 1.6-litre JTDM-2 105hp diesel engines.
The Distinctive model replaces the Lusso grade and gains new 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome mirrors, upgraded interior trim and a cooled glovebox, although it too increases in price by £470. Engines choices are the same as Progression plus a 170hp 1.4-litre TB MultiAir petrol and the new 2.0-litre JTDM-2 150hp diesel unit.
The new Exclusive trim replaces the Veloce. Its price increases by £920 but gains new 17-inch alloy wheels, part-leather seats, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, electric-folding mirrors, privacy glass, auto-dipping rear-view mirror, rear arm rest and electric front seat lumbar adjustment.
The Sportiva grade has been renamed to Sportiva Nav and gains the new Uconnect system plus sports steering wheel with white stitching, leather and Alcantara seats, and front parking sensors. Its price increases by £810 to cover the upgrades.
A more powerful 2.0-litre JTDM-2 diesel engine with 175hp will follow later. It will be mated as standard to Alfa’s TCT dual-clutch transmission and will be available only on Exclusive and Sportiva Nav grades.
Also following later will be a sporty flagship model, with details to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Prices for the 2014 Alfa Giulietta start from £18,235.
