Ford Motor Company today announced the addition of a new Euro Stage IV emissions compatible version of the highly acclaimed 2.2-litre, 155PS Duratorq TDCi engine for the Ford Mondeo.

This new version of the high-performance 155PS engine meets the world’s strictest exhaust emissions standard, Euro Stage IV, which becomes mandatory on January 1, 2006.

In addition the new engine now utilises an electrically-actuated variable turbocharger which improves responsiveness and driveability in the lower rev range. As a result there is a significant broadening of the useable power band, starting from just 1,250rpm.

With exhilarating performance and refined efficiency, Ford’s 2.2-litre engine is such a success, it is now also available to order in all Zetec models as well as Ghia, Ghia X, Titanium, Titanium X and ST.

Optimum value for money is maintained since all versions of the Mondeo Duratorq TDCi 130PS and TDCi 115PS Euro Stage IV engines are now at price parity with the previous Stage III engines. Stage III is now available at new lower prices.

New to the Mondeo range is Ford’s 90PS TDCi Stage IV common rail engine. Available on LX models, the 90PS engine lowers the price of diesel motoring to £16,300 on-the-road.

Ford is increasing the appeal of its class-leading Mondeo still further with the announcement of lower prices across the range from LX to Titanium X (excluding ST models). With reductions ranging from up to £595 on the entry level Mondeo LX, and up to £995 on Ghia X/Titanium X models, retail and fleet customers in the UK will now enjoy even more competitive pricing, value and choice.

The revised prices are designed not only to be more attractive to new customers, but also to simplify the line-up. Typically the new pricing will mean £500 to step up to a more powerful engine, £500 – £1,000 to step from a petrol, to a common-rail diesel engine, and £1,000 to step up a series e.g. from LX to Zetec.

For example, customers can now choose between a powerful Zetec 145PS petrol engine from £17,300 RRP on the road or a Zetec 2.0 TDCi 115PS common-rail fuel efficient Stage IV with low CO2 emissions from £17,800 RRP on the road. The equivalent Ghia/Titanium models with extra product, features, and visual appeal adds a further £1,000.

A final boost to the Mondeo range is confirmation that the Special Edition Mondeo Silver is to be continued due to high customer demand. Mondeo Silver is available from £15,680 RRP on-the-road and features include: 16in seven-spoke alloy wheels, Front fog lights, Silver metallic paint (choice of three), Rain-sensing windscreen wipers, Air conditioning, Multi-function trip computer, Driver, passenger and side impact airbags, Anti-lock brakes (ABS), “Quickclear” heated front windscreen, Intelligent Protection System (IPS) and 1.8 Duratec petrol engine or 2.0 Duratorq TDCi.
